our story

Welcome to Lake Harvest Pottery. It’s a family run pottery studio, where we make hand-crafted ceramics reflecting the tranquility of life from a small, charming town on the great Lake Michigan.

We are Chris and Kath, a husband and wife team in Saint Joseph, MI. Our small batch pottery is inspired by the spectacular sunsets, colors, and textures of life on the lake.

The heart and soul of our pottery come from a place of peace and rest; life’s too short to hurry through it! So it’s our hope that your heart can pause to recalibrate and wrap around the beauty of a quiet, restful time – whether you’re sipping your first morning coffee from a favorite mug, or wrapping up a hectic day with your choice of wine in a beautifully glazed tumbler.

We opened Lake Harvest Pottery after leaving our fast-paced corporate jobs with a desire to pursue a life filled with creativity,  space for our souls to thrive, and time to invest in giving back to our community. Want to know what convinced us to capture the essence of peace found here, and infuse it into our pottery? Long walks on the beach, a daily witness of painted skies, hikes through woods and over sand dunes, strolling through town with our big goofy dog, stopping to chat with the friendliest people, and breathing in the intoxicating aroma of ripening vineyards across our region.

Every ceramic piece we make is created with love, and is food-safe, dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe.

And have you seen our “extras” who are always up for chasing sunsets too? Our middle son, born with Down syndrome and our 160 pound Newfoundland cheer us on, happily immersed in the joys of lake effects in our life.
